Elaine Paige was trending yesterday... but for nothing the Olivier-award winning musical star had done. Instead it is a case of mistaken identity.

"British West End star Elaine Paige found her name trending on Twitter in the UK last night following Hollywood actor Elliot Page's announcement that he's transgender," writes the Daily Mail.

Many confused the award-winning 72-year old star, most famous for her role in Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals "Evita," "Cats" and "Sunset Boulevard," with the 33-year old Canadian actor famous for her roles in "Juno" (an Oscar nom) and Netflix's "Umbrella Academy." And led to comments on Twitter:

One user made a clever reference to Paige's hit duet (with singer Barbara Dickson) "I Know Him So Well" from the musical "Chess."

This is the second time this year that Paige has found herself at the center of a social media controversy not of her own making. This occurred after the Telegraph ran an interview with her headlined " 'I've been having cocktail parties on Zoom."

"However, when the piece was shared on Twitter, the headline was awkwardly shortened automatically in order for it to fit, reading instead: 'I've been having c**k'," reports the Daily Mail.

Paige responded with humor as to the error:

EDGE's Steve Duffy spoke to Paige last May about her life during lockdown:
