Rising Star Eva Takes On Florida
Kevin Mark Kline READ TIME: 2 MIN.
New pop star Eva is no diva and with the star power on her first album, she really could be. Her first album features music heavyweights Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco and Scott Torch and her first single was written by glitter pop goddess Ke$ha.
The 21-year-old California girl is very passionate about pop and dance music. Her influences include fellow blondes Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears and pop goddesses the Spice Girls. The young star has already had opening gigs for stars like Alicia Keys and Nas. You'll definitely want to check out this rising star at her upcoming performances at the Honey Pot in Tampa on June 3 and a Gay Days Liquid Pool Party at Buena Vista Palace on June 5.
"I'm all about having fun," says Eva. "I love dancing, I love performing. I'm all about feel good music. A good song that makes you want to have fun, want to dance!"
Her songs include the throbbing banger anthem "Fashion Show," produced by Scott Storch, who is known for his work with Justin Timberlake, Pink, Beyonce, and Britney Spears; "Slow Down" which features Eva with hip-hop heavyweight Lupe Fiasco has garnered over 500,000 plays on MySpace.com; and "Popular," which teams Eva with the legendary Snoop Dogg.
"He was awesome," Eva says about Snoop. "I really liked him a lot - he's totally passionate about music and what he does. I didn't know what to expect... it was kind of intimidating- he is one of the most legendary rappers. But he was really cool and the whole room smelled like weed... which was kind of cool. Snoop was really nice and willing to offer up any advice and any support."
Her first single, "Not My Daddy" features Gucci Mane and was written by Ke$ha. It debuted on iTunes as a New & Noteworthy track, and is currently climbing the Billboard Club Play chart. Eva recently performed at White Party Palm Springs and is an expert at working a crowd. Opening for Keys definitely trained her in entertaining a stadium full of people.
"I used to get nervous," she says. "Now that I've done a lot of shows, I'm more used to it. Now I get more excited than nervous."
Eva's said that she hopes to have a career like her idol, Britney Spears. . .at least in some aspects.
"Well, when it comes to the music part," she said. "I hopefully plan on not being as exploited as she was."
The rising pop star would also like to try her hand at another type of stage.
"I love Broadway," she said. "I love showtunes... my friends laugh at me because I play "Rent" in my car."
The ambitious singer is definitely one to watch. Make sure to check her out at her shows in Central Florida this week or on her web site at EvasUniverse.com
