Nick Gruber, best know for being American fashion designer Calvin Klein's on-again-off-again boyfriend, told New York Magazine that he is "not gay."

Gruber, 23, told the publication how he started to date Klein, 70, and said they met in New York through mutual friends. Gruber, a former porn model, says they started to discuss their sexuality when Gruber brought up serving in the Army.

Gruber told NY Magazine: "I'm not gay, but I don't believe in labels, I believe in love. So the gay community in Fort Riley, Kansas, was really bad ... A lot of people, they would get beat up, or you'll be sleeping in a bunk and the next thing you know your roommate could come over and smash your head in, and no one really knows about it."

Gruber was discharged under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," policy, which prohibited gay military members from serving openly.

Back in September 2012, Gruber claimed that the iconic designer was stalking him, shortly after the young model bagged himself a new man, John Luciano.

"Calvin can hire goons to follow John and I all he wants. We have nothing to hide," Gruber said. "I've moved on." Luciano says he believed Klein hired the snoop because the designer misses Gruber.

"I understand what it's like to be broken-hearted, and I'm sure Calvin's heartbroken," he said. "Nick's a great guy."

In April 2012, Gruber, was arrested for assaulting a man he took home from a party as well as cocaine possession.

Though, those bad boy days may be behind him as he tells NY Mag he wants to have a kid before he turns 30. He is even using a public relations rep to help rebrand his career as an extreme sports trainer and model.

This isn't the first time Gruber claimed he wasn't gay, however. Last year, after he and Klein broke up, he told the New York Post's Page Six Magazine that he is straight.

"I was the first man [Calvin] fell in love with," he said. "I don't know why, but there's, like, something about me that attracts everyone. I have a nickname called Romeo. I get every girl, and even guys. Something about me draws them all in."
