What's HOT South Florida (10/24 - 10/31)
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 5 MIN.
On Tuesday, Care Resource celebrated their 30th anniversary at the Miami Botanical Gardens in Miami Beach. On Wednesday night the Coliseum presented the 2nd annual Miss Coliseum Pageant, and I was honored to be a judge. There were 4 contestants and in the end the winner was Valeria Coutier, who was not only great in all categories, but killed it in talent!
On Friday, the Task Force presented Sparkle Preview event at the Haven bar/restaurant in South Beach to raise awareness for the annual Gala. The walls at Haven are videos, and it was amazing what the Task Force did with the walls. The Hors D'oeuvres were outstanding. Friday night began the weekend celebration of Bill's 18th anniversary, but the major celebration took place on Saturday night with Lenora Jaye & the Ladies of Soul live, who performed 2 sets. The first set was a tribute to The Golden Era of Girl Groups featuring Motown inspired music and the second set was a tribute to "Dreamgirls," featuring songs from the Broadway musical and the motion picture. This was an amazing night of talent, and I am sure we will hear from this group again, but you can catch Lenore every Sunday night at Alibi.
On Saturday, The Task Force had another event, this time in Fort Lauderdale and was a fundraiser at the beautiful home of Russ Sassani and Mike Schneider. Saturday late nights, Discotekka has become the afterhours "Mekka" (pun intended) for the gay community. It seems like no matter what clubs people are partying at they are ending up early mornings at Disco to continue their party.
