Macklemore's 'Same Love' Performance Hit With Anti-Gay Backlash

While many lauded Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' performance of their marriage equality jam "Same Love" during the 2014 Grammy Awards Sunday night, which featured vocals from Madonna and Queen Latifah who officiated 33 couples, a number of them gay, a number of anti-gay pundits took to social media to slam the event.

As the Huffington Post reports, a number of pundits who are not shy about making anti-gay remarks, didn't hesitate to post their thoughts on the Grammy Awards, specifically the performance of "Same Love," which was nominated for Song of the Year but lost to Lorde's "Royals."

"Heads up: Grammy telecast to feature sodomy-based wedding ceremonies," the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer tweeted Sunday afternoon, a few hours before the Grammy Awards aired.

"I've never seen such a display of intolerance, bigotry and hatred. #Grammys #antichristian," Fox News' Todd Starnes wrote on Twitter during the show.

HuffPo aggregated a number of tweets of others slamming the "Same Love" performance.

"CBS: Shame on you, the Grammy's is supposed to be a family friendly show. It was disgusting, and sick to have gay marriages," one Twitter user wrote.

"Total mockery of God on the Grammys tonight! The world has gone gay-mad! And it is sickening!" another wrote.

"These Grammy's turned out to be a damn fag/queer marriage festival. #gross," another tweet reads.

"Grammy's are pathetic.. I boycott from now on. A gay marriage on tv is disgusting and uncalled for," a user wrote.

Jezebel also points out some viewers' disgust with the Grammy Awards, posting a number of anti-gay tweets as well.

"This gay shit on the Grammys is fucking disgusting. I'm done watching this," a tweet reads.

"There's some disgusting ppl in this world. Reading hate tweets about that just happened on the #grammys. What the hell is wrong with people?" a Twitter user wrote.

But viewers also took issue with Beyonce's sexy performance of "Drunk in Love" and Lorde.

"Beyonce's act was literally disgusting. The Grammy's are supposed to be classy," a tweet reads.

"Ok so Lorde was disgusting. Looked like a vampire on crack and I love Katy Perry but that performance was horrible!! #grammys."

CBS Sports reports that former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron called the Grammy Awards "demonic" in a tweet.

"Is it just me or are some of the Grammy performances so far seem to be really demonic?? Looks like there is a lot of evil in the world..." he said.
