House GOP Whip Pulls Column From Brietbart Over Pelosi / Cyrus Pic

In a rare and refreshing gesture of bipartisanship, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) requested his column be pulled from newly launched Breitbart California over artwork pasted on the conservative news outlet depicting a photoshop graft of former Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi into Miley Cyrus' infamous VMA performance.

On Monday, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement:

"To say the least, the Breitbart News ad is foul, offensive, and disrespectful to all women. It is a disgusting new low and would be reprehensible against any woman - regardless of party. It's no wonder the Republicans are having problems appealing to women. If GOP leaders are serious about their rebrand, then both their elected and Party leadership should condemn this outrageous behavior, call on Breitbart News to immediately remove the ad, and not continue to use this website as a forum for their views."

One Republican member of Congress took heed to Wasserman's call to action. House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has requested that his column be pulled from Breitbar News' new California website.

"We didn't condone them," Matt Sparks, a McCarthy spokesman, told the Los Angeles Times, about the images. "We thought it was the right thing to do to ask for the column to be removed.

According to Talking Points Memo, prior to the photo controversy, McCarthy was enthusiastic about the launch of Breitbart's new California venture.

"This weekend's launch of Breitbart California is a testament to his legacy of holding our public officials accountable for their actions," McCarthy said in a statement last week. "I look forward to the voice of reform-minded Californians being represented without bias as Breitbart California launches."
