Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 3 MIN.
Green Kitchen Stories
www.greenkitchenstories.com
A Swedish/Danish couple and their daughter have fun cooking some tasty food, and they let the world know about their favorite recipes via their website. If you want to eat vegetarian and want to use all organic ingredients, this is a website that you'll like. If you want to read more about them and try their best recipes, you can buy their book ("Vegetarian Everyday" by David Frenkiel and Luise Vindahl) and you can even download their app at the iTunes Store!
101 Cookbooks
www.101cookbooks.com
Heidi Swanson is based out of San Francisco and she runs 101 Cookbooks, which she populates with delicious vegetarian recipes. Salon once asked "Can this woman make quinoa sexy?" and if you're dying to know, the answer is yes. Before you reach for the burgers and the donuts, go to 101 Cookbooks and access all of her recipes. You can search by food category, ingredient or season. Want something lemony for summer? Try her turmeric tea with lemon juice. How DOES she make quinoa sexy? See her recipe for maple grilled tempeh with garlic and chipotle!
Oh She Glows
www.ohsheglows.com
Forget every misconception you've had about vegan dishes and throw them out the window. Angela Liddon's goal is to bring you the best in vegan cooking, so you can glow the way she does. The best part is that most of these recipes are naturally gluten-free as well, making this a doubly healthy reference. Her "Oh She Glows Cookbook" is a New York Times bestseller. Before committing to buying the book, try flavor-filled recipes like the Moroccan Yam Veggie Burgers with Cilantro Lime Tahini Sauce, with a Creamy Chocolate Hemp Smoothie for dessert! Sounds delish!
The Healthy Foodie
www.thehealthyfoodie.com
Foodie and website owner Sonia took a pledge a few years ago to lose weight and live healthier for herself and for her children. From there she was introduced to the paleo diet, and a majority of her recipes are paleo-friendly. However, the aim of her site is healthy living and she keeps a section of her website for non-paleo recipes as well. Every kind of recipe is included on this website, from former "comfort foods" done paleo-style to drinks and even recipes tailored for one person as opposed to a family. Start your day with an Italian sausage, egg and spinach breakfast bowl! Looks good!
The Cooks
Bobby Flay
Bobby Flay has been a Food Network star for many years and now foodnetwork.com has introduced a new portal, "Bobby Flay Fit." In this web series, Bobby gives us tips in the kitchen but also in the gym as he shows us how to keep fit and stay fit. He mixes recipe videos with his tried-and-true advice, such as assisting viewers on how to shop healthy in supermarkets, and giving motivation to viewers so they do not lose their way. Not sure how to start exercise? He covers that and gives you options you'll like. Be sure to visit this web portal at foodnetwork.com/healthy/packages/bobby-flay-fit.html
Ellie Krieger
In a TV landscape filled with Paula Deens and Ina Gartens, for a while it was difficult to even find a voice who was dedicated completely to healthy eating. Enter registered dietitian Ellie Krieger, who hosted the series "Healthy Appetite," and millions of viewers' wishes were granted. She has written a number of books featuring healthy recipes, the most recent being "Weeknight Wonders: Delicious, Healthy Dinners in 30 Minutes or Less." It's hard to lead a busy life and stick to a healthy diet but Ellie tells you how you can conquer the world and still have time to cook and eat well.
Daphne Oz
If anyone can eat healthy under any situation, it is Daphne Oz. The daughter of Dr. Mehmet Oz (the talk show king), Daphne became famous in her own right after she wrote a book on how to navigate hectic college life while still making healthy food and drink choices. Now a host on ABC's "The Chew," she has released her second book, "Relish," which showcases her plans and ideas for people wishing to live a healthier lifestyle. She recognizes that living healthy is a life choice and she is at the ready to give her insight on decorating and her inspirations at home.
Glada de Laurentiis
Giada de Laurentiis is one of my favorite celebrity cooks. I was first introduced to her on her Food Network show "Everyday Italian." She combines healthy ingredients and high quality to make sure you can enjoy your favorite Italian dishes without feeling guilty about it. If you want to know more about her best healthy recipes, buy her book "Giada's Feel Good Food." In this book, she reveals 120 recipes that she uses to keep fit. Many of these recipes are gluten-free and some are vegetarian or vegan.
