Utahns Rally Against Gay Marriage at Capitol

At a Thursday rally at the Utah State Capitol, several hundred people gathered to show their opposition to increasingly widespread acceptance of gay marriage.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/1mm9jsi) that supporters of heterosexual marriage held signs declaring "two moms don't equal a dad."

They cheered as conservative activist Mary Summerhays projected on a screen images of same-sex couples and their children and said the kids will suffer for not having either a mother or a father.

A federal judge overturned Utah's same-sex gay marriage ban in December and an appeals court upheld that ruling. Utah officials are appealing that decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mark Lawrence said he and other supporters of same-sex marriage went to the rally to show the opposition the faces of the people they are discriminating against.
