Members of the militant group ISIS have allegedly beheaded three men in northern Iraq this moth, according to a report by News 24.
News 24 reports that ISIS sympathizers shared disturbing photos on social media Tuesday that showed blindfolded men kneeling in the center of "what appears to be a traffic circle with a crowd of people looking on as a masked, black-clad executioner stands by with a long, rusty blade," News 24 writes. The images, however, do not show the actual beheadings and the news outlet writes the new pictures' "authenticity could not be independently verified."
It is reported the three men were killed for "blasphemy" and under Islamic State-imposed sharia law, homosexuality is punishable by death, Gay Star News notes.
The photos allegedly come from the Nineveh province of Iraq, which became controlled by ISIS last June. The exact location of the beheadings has not been confirmed.
This is not the first time ISIS has been in the news for killing alleged gay men. Just last week it was reported that members of the militant group threw a man believed to be gay off the roof of a building. Photos of the killing were released by local group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently. Members of the group work undercover to expose ISIS' tactics.
Before that, it was reported in February that ISIS stoned a man believed to be gay after he survived being thrown off a building. A similar incident occurred in Decemberas well, when upsetting photos surfaced showing ISIS allegedly throwing another man off the roof of a building.
