Parents Say Calif. Teacher Asked Students to Take Selfies With Sex Toys, Condoms

A California high school teacher is coming under fire this week after parents claim he gave students an extra credit assignment requiring the teens to find and take selfies with their parents' sex toys and condoms, CBS San Francisco reports.

Parents like Kimberly Cobene and Evangeline Garcia told the news station they want the teacher, who has not been revealed, to be fired from Encinal High School in Alameda, Calif. The mothers said they heard about the bizarre assignment last month from a counselor at an after school program for their daughters, who are both in the tenth grade.

"It was to go into your parents' private drawers or whatever to seek out sexual toys or condoms, or anything of that nature and to take a selfie with it," Cobene told CBS San Francisco.

They said school administrators implied the sex toy selfie assignment was just a joke, but not every student understood.

"From what I understand, a student actually did it and he used that as an example of what it should look like for the other students," Cobene said.

"If the kids took it as a joke, then why did one kid take it serious and actually did the extra credit work, and was shown as an example in class?" Garcia said.

The women told the news station the teacher in question is still employed at the school and that the school district is not answering their questions.

"We don't feel comfortable with our children in his presence. All they could tell us is that, 'Oh, this is an HR issue. It's being investigated.' They are not at liberty to tell me anything other than that. It's kinda been the runaround," Garcia said.

CBS San Francisco talked to school representatives about the incident but wrote they are "being tight-lipped about the investigation." The news station asked why the teacher is still teaching and on campus and Susan Davis of the Alameda Unified School District said, "I can't give you details about that because it's an ongoing investigation."

The women want the teacher to be fired.
