Franklin Graham: Rainbow-Lit White House Pissed Off God, Lightning to Follow
EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Christian nationalist Franklin Graham, the fervently anti-gay son of Reverend Billy Graham has a suggestion for President Obama -- install lightning rods on the roof of the White House because God will strike him down for lighting it up in rainbow colors for Gay Pride.
Graham took to his Facebook page, to write:
A lot has changed in three short years! Just three years ago, the President was on record as holding to the biblical definition of marriage. Now he can't say enough about his support for the LGBT agenda -- and right after the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage, he had the gall to disgrace the White House by lighting it up with the gay pride rainbow colors to celebrate. This is arrogantly flaunting sinful behavior in the face of Almighty God. My advice? He might want to have some extra lightning rods installed on the roof of the White House
If the old saying "lightning never strikes the same place twice" is true, the president shouldn't have to worry about heeding Graham's warning. On April 25, 2011, lightning struck the White House. That event was reported on by the click-baiting conspiracy driven website nowtheendbegins.com who wrote:
Barack Hussein Obama ignored Easter yesterday. He issued no statements of any kind, no "Happy Easter," no nothing. By comparison he has issued glowing, effusive statements of praise for each and every Muslim holiday since he took office. Hasn't missed one of them. So it is quite interesting that yesterday as believers celebrated the Risen Lord Jesus around the the globe, that the God of Heaven who controls the wind and the weather chose to strike the White House with lightning.
In June, Graham made headlines when he encouraged followers to close their accounts with Wells Fargo Bank because he took umbrage with a TV ad for the bank that showed a lesbian couple adopting a deaf baby.
"Let's just stop doing business with those who promote sin and stand against Almighty God's laws and His standards. Maybe if enough of us do this, it will get their attention," he wrote on Facebook.
Ironically, in protest of Wells Fargo's pro-gay ad, he ended up moving all of his funds to BB&T which is one of the largest corporate supporters of Miami's annual LGBT Pride celebration and is a major sponsor of Florida's Legacy Couples program in South Florida, which honors committed same-sex couples.
A profile of Graham is featured as entry #156 in The Encyclopedia of American Loons.
