Ombré Out, Color Melting In

Ombr� took the hair world by storm in 2010 but the latest look for 2016 is Color Melting. While ombr� and color melting may be perceived as the same technique, hair guru Daniel Alfonso of Daniel Alfonso Men's Salon in Los Angeles explains the process to complete both hairstyles involves different coloring skills and completely different outcomes.

Color melting is different from ombr� because there are no harsh lines or big differences in hair coloration," says Alfonso. "Melting can still involve freestyle or foil techniques similar to ombr�, but instead, blends the highlights with the base color to achieve a more blended and smooth transition with multiple hair colors."

Ombr� is achieved by either freestyle, highlighting, backcombing or foiling to achieve the look of a darker color at the root transitioning to a lighter more bleached color at the bottom. Then the color is toned with two different colors, one at the root and one at the mid-shaft to ends. Finally a gloss is applied to bring back natural shine. But ombr� is less subtle in the transitions.

With all the advancements in color lines, it is possible to make almost any style look believable on men -- just look to icons Justin Bieber, Jared Leto, David Beckham and more! This fall is predicted to be the season for originality and experimentation.
