A Catholic cleric viewers took to calling a "Hot Priest" made "Jeopardy" a rapturous experience for fans of the long-running game show.
The New York Post recounted that 29-year-old Fr. Steve Jakubowski's Sept. 26 appearance transfigured the game show.
"Jakubowski – who resides in Austin, Texas – competed against teacher Jen Feldman and one-day champion Chris Linsday," the Post detailed. "Feldman was ultimately crowned the night's winner, meaning Jakubowski fans will have to hit the pews if they want to see and hear more of him."
Some might indeed be tempted to make the pilgrimage to worship services, judging from the comments that flew on Twitter (now known as X).
Newsweek reported that fans on social media "were swooning during the episode with one saying, 'This Jeopardy contestant is a PRIEST? I'm about to convert'.... another added, 'There's a hot priest on jeopardy now??????' A third fan admitted 'I am an atheist but I would def consider becoming a Catholic for Father Steve..... #jeopardy.'"
There might even be a TV afterlife for the Hot Priest if viewers get their way, Newsweek noted. "The Michigan native made such an impactful impression on viewers that they've been demanding his return pleading "@Jeopardy immediately bring back Father Steve for 'Second Chance.'"
Fr. Jakubowski is not the only hot priest viewers have taken note of. Out actor Andrew Scott was bestowed that honorific for his turn in the Phoebe Waller-Bridge comedy "Fleabag."
The heartthrob cleric seemed as though he might not mind a few more parishioners showing up to see him in his vestments.
"I hope it gave a positive impression of my community and the Church," the Post quoted Fr. Jakubowski saying. "The show airs at 3:30 where I live in Austin, and so we had a watch party at our parish school with our students and their parents – tons of fun to share that with our parish."
Take a look at a clip of Fr. Jakubowski on the show below.
